Emel and Aris was a start-up wearable technology company and a high-end, high fashion brand. Founded in 2016, they have created the world’s first ‘Smart Coats’ – stunningly tailored coats with groundbreaking intelligent heating technology.
Working with a highly innovative, highly ambitious business was a welcome challenge. They briefed me to define their brand identity, design and produce a responsive website and to crucially deliver their crowdfunding kickstarter project.
A multi-layered brand identity.
The idea behind all Emel and Aris coats is simple, but clever. Using a three layer system: 1. the outer fabric, 2. intelligent heating panels and 3, your own skin. When it came to creating a brand identity to represent the brand, I interpreted this into an equally elegant design: creating the triple line logotype, with each line representing the three layers that make an Emel and Aris coat unique. This core idea informs the complete toolkit to use across all of their collateral including packaging design, website, emails, print and film.
The combination of a unique, highly compelling idea and a fully-formed, fully integrated communications programme delivered. The funding target of £70,000 was reached within just 3 days of the launch and just over a week in, the amount raised had hit the £100,000 mark.
